THE FAMILY UNIT
HOLIDAY MESSAGE: The Family Unit Is The Building Block of Society.

Since Facebook was launched to the public in 2006 the social network platform has afforded all and sundry to huff and puff, and to vent feelings, opinions, fictitious declarations, salesmanship, mischievous allegations, rambunctious declarations, expos'e of hidden skeletons, green jealousy, artistic mixology, and a seethingly caustic wars amongst enemies and family members. This public spectacle ranges from amusing to emotional devastation.
I am personally appalled when families battle online, especially when parents are involved. A recent Facebook altercation amongst family members, in which the mother is at the center of the tussle, caught my surfing attention. It is sad when a mother is cast in a game of thrones. It is sad when a mother, who is the progenitor of the siblings, is used to advance the vicissitudes, or,accolades of family members. It is sad when units of a family that came from on seed cannot speak in a common voice.
It is always the mother that keeps the family together! When she dies physically, or, becomes meaningless because of infirmity, and mental decadence, invariably, the family unit is broken. It is at this time that family should be one. It is at this time that the family should speak in one voice. It is at this time that the family should be the voice of the mother. But nay! This is the time when the unit that was nurtured by the mother seek different paths and objective gratification.
In many instances the catalyst for this seemingly abhorrent exhibition of egotistical behavior stems from the rush of inheritance adrenaline. Whatever wealth that has been accrued by the progenitors, mother and father, looms big in the eyes of the family unit. The wealth may be small, or, big. but it doesn't matter. It becomes a bone if contention, and leads to a troubled relationship, and the roads become treacherous.
I call again, like I always do at this time of the year, for peace, humility, friendship, unity, joy, happiness, and a deep commitment to family values. The family unit is the foundation of social stability, where our mothers, and fathers, must be the bedrock upon which the family unit can become, and remain strong.
PS: Not all family systems exhibit this malady.
