OUR CHANGING TIMES: DOOM OR GLORY
OUR CHANGING TIMES: DOOM OR GLORY
Two particularly useful and significant lessons of human behavior that I have learnt in my social progression on the ladder of upward mobility, still habitually gnaws at my intricate psychological constructs.
During my early years in the upper echelon of management, I was told by my management mentor, in simple terms, that in any social engineering of humanity, it is the living thing that has the capacity to deceive and lie, and not the inanimate objects that I will be dealing with.
Intricately connected to this observation, is the remarkable ability of living things to decieve, and celebrate a dance of intrigue and camouflage.
We have developed this art form into means of survival, deception, treachery, vengeance, jealousy, and unmitigated tragedy. It is amazing how this web of deceipt has embedded itself in the socio-political milieu of our existential behavior. It has become an intrinsic part of our lives, and for many it's a way of life.
With social media and the ever present AI technology that has pervaded our social Interactions, and continues to make the traditional family unit degraded, we are at the cusp of a life of deception. The family unit which has been proven as the corner stone of a wholesome and disciplined life faces a threat like never before. The dismantling of the nuclear family unit can provide easy access by the encroaching arms of this malady of deception.
Do we reach back in time to regain those values that kept us closely knit, and more conducive to realistic honesty and respect, or do we flow with the changing social systems, regardless of its integrity deficit. The future may still be full of goodness and hope, instead of darkness and danger.
We may not be able to go back, overcoming the myriads of changes that happened, forever altering the status quo, so we keep going, caught up in a tidal wave of changes, looking for safety, success, and glory, holding on to whatever we built in the past.
Our present turmoil and tribulations may be transitory, and they may dissipate in the morning mists, leaving rays of hope and a new way.
In the meantime, let us be steadfast and hold on to the things we cherish.
