CJARITABLE DONATIONS
CHARITABLE DONATIONS
Charitable donations, throughout the world, seem to be on the upsurge. This is particularly noticeable in poor and developing countries, notwithstanding the fact that such donations are made to poor and needy persons wherever they are, even in rich, industrialized countries. People are poor, needy, and totally destitute, because of various reasons - lack of opportunities, man- made and natural catastrophes, an inherited cycle of destitution, and downright laziness. Nonetheless, people in need are, just what it says, people in need, until they could get out of poverty,
Making charitable donations must be done selflessly, with no need for self aggrandizement and praise. Once genuine cases of people in need are identified, one should be able to contribute, in any way possible, to help alleviate such need, without ridiculing and casting aspersions on those in need.
It is agreed that some people in need are able to break out of the poverty trap, while some cannot because of prevailing circumstances. Many who get help walk away from poverty and are thankful to their good Samaritans. Others continue to suffer in need and still depend on charity.
Many argue that instead of 'giving fish to those in need, we must teach them to fish.' this kind of empowerment is good, but still leaves many behind, stuck in abysmal destitution.
Let us continue to make charitable donations to the needy, without being sarcastic, seeking self recognition, not mindful of the plight of the poor. Let us continue to be selfless in our charitable work!
