POLITITICIANS, LEADERSHIP AND DOMINATION

 Politicians are intrinsically power grabbers, and in pursuit of this power they tend to make us believe that they have our best interests at heart. To take it to the extreme,  they get us to accept things that we really do not believe in! Having said this, let us look at one of the issues that they keep kicking around, as if they are playing world cup football - immigration. A nation state needs secure and protected borders, a fact that the Greeks learned in their quest to build a democratic nation. 


The New World was built through immigration but at some point laws had to be established to control, restrict and protect the nations of this new frontier. 


The Republicans and Democrats have to stop posturing and step into the middle of the ring and  fight to create a viable immigration package.The liberals and conservatives in both parties have to seriously work together to draft an immigration bill which will be acceptable to all.


The question of the separation of children from their parents is not new. Illegal immigrants have been detained and deported before, under past administrations. I know this personally because of my involvement in various community, advocacy groups in New York. Children, even infants have been used by their own parents to circumvent immigration laws just to get a foothold in the USA. I know of cases where parents have been deported, leaving thei citizen children behind. Many parents have been forced to pay huge fines when it was found out that the pregnant mothers came here with visitors visa just to have their children born on American soil. Thousands of illegal immigrants are here now who cannot be naturalized because they crossed the border with fraudulent documents (backtrack). They live underground, or, go back home. I had to intervene in cases where backtrack illegals were held in Mexico, and jailed under deplorable conditions. I visited the detention center in Elizabeth, New Jersey,  to look at the illegals there. In both scenarios these people had to be deported, even after paying exorbitant legal fees to keep them in America.


These same immigration laws now apply at our borders and these illegals have to abide with the laws of the land. Children and their parents have been held before, but the law was relaxed with a catch and release program which opened up a process of abuse and escape for many. Was this enforcing the law, No! 


The southern border with Mexico is porous and the world knows this, especially Latin America. The people who created and now manages this business of getting illegals across the border will use any means and method available to ply their trade. Using innocent children has now gained notoriety and has become increasingly popular.


Yes, the Republicans and Democrats have to step into the center of the ring and forget holding on to their seats at the midterms and at the next presidential elections. They have to meet, compromise, look at the stability of the nation, and work in the the interests of all, while maintaining and securing the strength of the USA. Is this possible? No! Unless we live in euphoric nostalgia and utopian illusions!


We, the people will always be, and remain the pawns of those who aspire to be our leaders, nay, our politicians.

THE PANGS OF DEATH

Death is ever present, and  like a dark specter of doom, it hovers above and around us, waiting in the shadows to attack and devastate. It is envious of birth, which brings joy and happiness to us. Envious of our struggles down paths of thorns and roses.It follows us, breaching our defenses when and where we least expect it.
