 THE BUFFET TABLE IS BEFORE US


It's almost ten months since we became ensnaired by the far reaching tentacles of a virus that has grown into a global pandemic. We have been forewarned several times about this impending attack that has now become reality but complacency and a belief that we are invincible have left us in the throes of the greatest pandemic since the early twentieth-century. 


As we scramble to find ways to defeat Covid-19 many has been left traumatized by the ravages of the virus. The socio - economic implications have been devastating with the shutting down of businesses and a change in the way we live. The virus has also become a political football as politicians seek to score big goals in a never ending struggle for power. The global death toll is alarming. Many has lost loved ones to this scourge that has touched many lives, leaving them distraught, without no source of income, depending on handouts and relief packages.


Over the past months we have learnt more about Covid-19 and are finding ways and means to control the spread of the virus with medicinal therapies and a change in lifestyles.This will suffice until we can come up with tested and viable vaccines.


In the meantime the onus is on us! We have to adjust our lifestyles, following all recommended precautions to keep the virus in check. It's easy for me since I am retired and do not have to trod the path of the many who have to work. Many of these same people worked through the pandemic. Many of them succumbed, while many are still working.


The buffet table is laid before us. Choose wisely. I have grown accustomed to this new normal! You are life and not the delusional things that surround you. Protect your life and the lives of those around you!

THE PANGS OF DEATH

Death is ever present, and  like a dark specter of doom, it hovers above and around us, waiting in the shadows to attack and devastate. It is envious of birth, which brings joy and happiness to us. Envious of our struggles down paths of thorns and roses.It follows us, breaching our defenses when and where we least expect it.
