Several years ago, my grandfather, in one of his many discussions with me, said that we are the only living creatures that have the ability to say things that are not true. He did explain to me that there are other simple life forms that have developed deception as a tool in the struggle for survival, but that we have mastered the art, not only as a means of survival, but as a deliberate and mischievous stratagem to manipulate and deceive!


With the emergent domination of social media as a billboard for all manner of news items, and the abundance of numerous apps, created by skilled internet technicians and marketing professionals, we have been flooded with the tools of deception. 


Many hide behind caricatures of cartoon characters and fictitious profiles who roam the web, endeavoring to mislead, misinterpret, and carry out abusive frontal attacks on the  susceptible and the unwary.


The engineering armor of social media is also fraught with weaknesses that are easily breached, giving these masters of deception the uncanny ability to be someone, other than themselves, thereby allowing them to freely abuse and harangue social media enthusiasts and fanatics.


Strengthening of the social media framework, whether by a stronger and more secure construct, or by more stringent laws and guidelines with punitive consequences, is a matter of urgency. However, how far we go in this direction without infringing on the freedom of speech boogeyman is left to be seen.


Social media commentators should be transparent and bold! Facts must be separated from fiction! A battery of verifiable comments should be enough ammunition to keep social media bloggers and commentators in the open! Hiding behind false profiles and caricatures only proves that comments coming from these social media characters must be viewed with suspicion, and all efforts must be made to unfollow them and to disregard and ignore their utterances.

FIRERASS  Harry Bissoon 2/13/2026 Mabel, up before sunrise, long before the cock, Natty, crows.  In haste, amidst hazy and foggy mist, she pushes herself to limits anew, to meet deadline, daily vows,   The light shines through neighba Aunty Breto's windows, in an eerie brightness.  It flashes,dances,and speeds into the still darkness,  Look! THE PANGS OF DEATH

Death is ever present, and  like a dark specter of doom, it hovers above and around us, waiting in the shadows to attack and devastate. It is envious of birth, which brings joy and happiness to us. Envious of our struggles down paths of thorns and roses.It follows us, breaching our defenses when and where we least expect it. Maybe this is why some of us celebrate death and mourn the coming of new life.
