THE DECEITFUL ONE
THE DECEITFUL ONE
"What is the old serpent who cannot shed his skin, and calls others naked and shameless?"
"...You can muffle the drum...but who shall command the skylark not to sing?" KAHLIL GIBRAN
I knew a friend, but, yet now, I cannot say that I am really sure about such a relationship! With puffed chest and pounding heart, clenched fist, vowing, yes vowing almighty, loudly proclaiming that ways and means will be churned in a crucible to continue to fight for justice and freedom. Open palms were kissed, opened into hard, iron clenched fists, pumped into invisible, yet solid air, raised to the heavens, as if to smash the air around, and swore to keep resolute committment!
But, alas, what treacherous paths were followed in pursuit of self-aggrandizement and a fattened ego, contaminating holy vows, so much so, that pounding fists against heaving heart became shattered, pulverized into rubble and dust, no longer effective!
Now, unwittingly caught and trapped in a quagmire of deceit, sinking deeper and deeper into dark and evil oblivion, the ogre struggles with strings attached to his body and soul, sways, and dances incongruously, having only incoherent, meaningless utterances.
A serpent yes! A serpent with murky and troubled thoughts! A serpent who has shed countless skins, revealing nakedness and shame, yet screams at others and shout that they are shameless! The deceitful creature has become an evil caricature of all that is bad, senseless, illogical, unacceptable, and mentally deranged!
Make your way out of the quagmire, if ever you could, oh evil one, or you will be a shell of nothingness! Hang your head in shame, disgrace and devastation, for you cannot stop the beating of the drums! Neither, can you stop the singing of the skylark! Suffer endlessly and wallow in your careless, putrid stench!
